Ymateb gan Unigolyn | Evidence from Individual

What are your views on the general principles of the Bill and the need for legislation to deliver the Welsh Government’s stated policy objective (to make the Senedd a more effective legislature by ensuring it is broadly representative of the gender make-up of the population)?

I would like to see more equally for women

What are your views on the system of enforcement and potential sanctions for non-compliance proposed in the Bill?

I do not like this approach. People should be nominated on their ability to perform the role.

Are there any potential barriers to the implementation of the Bill’s provisions? If so, what are they, and are they adequately taken into account in the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum and Regulatory Impact Assessment?

Yes, if you do this you make women look bad, we get substandard people in a role just because they were to only one to apply. There are plenty of great women out there but they cannot put themselves forward as so many barriers exist. Look at why women are not standing do not make laws which undermine the average woman, the cost to women is great as it makes us all look rubbish.

Are any unintended consequences likely to arise from the Bill?

Yes, you will get people who are not capable being moved to the top of the list just because not enough people stood forward. You need to look at why less women stand and address these issues, then naturally you would get more representation.

What are your views on the Welsh Government’s assessment of the financial and other impacts of the Bill?

Government need to spend this money better, this is a useless waste of taxpayers money and will not get the results which are wanted. Please spend this money better.

What are your views on the balance between the information contained on the face of the Bill and what is left to subordinate legislation? Are the powers for Welsh Ministers to make subordinate legislation appropriate?

Unfortunately this bill is not appropriate for women to achieve equality and left to ministers any new additions will make it even worse. You need to rethink the reasons for doing this and ask women to help ensure that the work environment is suitable for great women to come forward

Do you have any views on matters relating to the legislative competence of the Senedd including compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights?

No

Do you have any views on matters related to the quality of the legislation, or to the constitutional or other implications of the Bill?

No

Are there any other issues that you would like to raise about the Bill and the accompanying Explanatory Memorandum or any related matters?

Stop this bill and start again on equality

Anything else?

No
